Reducing the risk of various disasters through adoption of risk mitigation programs, especially for the empowerment of poor and disadvantaged people, adopting effective humanitarian assistance programs, disaster risk reduction and emergency response by various governmental and non-governmental organizations. One of the responsibilities of the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) is to implement government directives and recommendations on disaster management and national disaster management policies and plans.

 

Philosophy and Goals Our philosophy is to build an active institution, a knowledge center, a research center and a recognized center for disaster management professionals' capacity building in disaster management.

Philosophy

In the light of the Disaster Management Act-2012, there will be an active organization whose job will be to reduce risk in disaster management programs, reduce the risk of poor and disadvantaged people from the negative effects of disasters, increase knowledge, research and capacity of every part of the disaster management cycle.

The goal

DDM will be a proactive body for efficient management of various types of disasters whose task will be to undertake disaster risk reduction programs, respond efficiently to any disaster and provide overall assistance to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief in coordinating with disaster risk management agencies.
